Question by hl22: how much should i eat?
I am a 19 year old very active girl. I feel as though I eat alot though, and am worried incase it's too much, though please note I never eat beyond the point of feeling satisfied and rarely feel completely full.
I go to the gym 4 times a week burning a minimum of 500 calories per session plus resistance training. I also do ballet once a week, go to college and have an active job three 3 a week as a carer in a nursing home.
I am 5 ft 7, female, weight of around 9 stone 4 pounds, give or take a few (130-135 pounds) bmi between 20 and 21. I am toned and fine with my body, just afraid incase I eat too much and that it will alter my body.
I always get atleast 6 portions of fruit and veg a day and have lean protein every lunch and dinner. I always have porridge with skimmed milk for breakfast. Though when it comes to the evening I tend to have some chocolate and some cereal and a bit more junkier snacks and find myself picking right into te evening.
an average day would consist of:
breakfast -
porridge with skimmed milk
cup of tea skimmed milk and sweeteners
banana
snack -
alpen bar
apple
pineapple
peach
lunch -
tuna 1/2 tin
baked beans 1/4 tin
sweetcorn
snack -
vegetables
small piece of chocolate/treat
maybe a cup of cereal
dinner -
half a jacket potatoe
prawns
baked beans 1/4 tin
lettuce
evening snacks -
3 or 4 small low fat ice lollies (minimilks) 30 kcal each
1 x small bar of chocolate
few small squares of chocolate
2 x small bowls of cereal with skimmed milk
cups of tea with skimmed milka and sweeteners
opinions? is this too much? will i gain weight? how much should i be eating? why am i snacking on loads of sugary things in the evening? i have an awful sweet tooth.
thankyou

You should stop worrying and set your concerns aside. Let the scale and the mirror tell you if you have a problem with quantity of calories or food in your diet. Meanwhile, as you have time, get an education in health, fitness, nutrition, diet, and exercise on the internet. You're obviously sufficiently intelligent to turn yourself into a good steward of your health for life autodidactically.
