Question by 8: How do I increase my max bench press from 220 lb (100 kg) to 230 lb (105 kg)?
My gym only has 2.5 kg plates as the lowest weight. I can do 1 rep of 220 lb comfortably. I can't get a second rep yet. I tried to do 105 kg and I did start it and guide the bar down, but I couldn't get it back up. I only use the power rack and I don't use spotters.
Is just lowering the bar under control with a heavy amount of weight useful at all?

Lower your weight and starting doing reps of 6-8 and eventually your max will increase.
