WEIGHT issues!?

Question by :) XOXO: WEIGHT issues!?
I have gained a total of 26 pounds within the last year. I went from a 106 -->132. 5"3. I was alarmed when I stepped on the scale this morning. I haven't weighed for 2 weeks being scared of the results.I don't know what to do. My shorts don't fit well. I need to go back to a 106. or at least 114. I'm unhappy, and it affects my self-confidence. I never want to eat infront of people. I feel weird when people stare at me, because I think they are mocking me. My self-esteem when from HIGH to LOW. I am more stress due to this weight issue. Well, it is my fault since i have been eating 3,600 calories approximately for the last three months, it's a no wonder I gained this much. It's suprising I am not over 132. I can not live like this, considering I have cross country season soon. Getting to the point, when I stress I eat. I am a typical "stress eater," so it is hard for me to lose weight. I have stress-->eat!
What about a 900 calorie diet?
My cousins live on a 700 calorie diet..:S

Is Your Weight Issue Not The Problem?

Article by Hamilton Erridge

More and more Americans are obese today than ever before. Scientists know that weight gain results from eating too much and exercising too little. But the answer to the problem for many may not result from focusing solely on exercise and nutrition, but more importantly on their overall lifestyle, relationships, and life goals.

A recent research study on rats highlighted just how important learning what is really going on inside our heads can be. These rats when allowed easy access to food and water, but nothing else gradually became obese. But when the researchers put the rats in small groups in the cage along with "enhancements" such as colorful objects, a running wheel, and a constantly changing environment, they found that the animals didn't get fat!

"Often times people, including scientists focus directly on the obvious outcome, in this case obesity, and while trying to "fix" that problem they miss the true cause, in this case happiness in life, and in extreme cases depression." Says head researcher Maureen Emhoff PhD. "While our research shows that not all of our animals become obese because of a lack of positive stimulation in life, it does show that many do."

Even more importantly from Dr. Emhoff's work is the idea that there is a cure for the cause, and it comes from understanding yourself, your goals, your friends, and truly embracing all that life has to offer. Often for many Americans, especially with a down economy, it can be hard to focus on ourselves, but the research of Dr. Emhoff's group and other suggest that we will all be better off if we do.

Luckily Dr. Ehmhoff has some suggestions for dealing with these issues:

First, take the time to sit down by yourself or with a trusted friend and imagine that your weight issue is gone you are a healthy weight. Then, ask yourself, now that the issue is gone, what else do I need to "fix" in life? You may find that there are many things, such as a new job, unpaid bills, or spending more time with the kids. While each of these is a process, according to Emhoff, take one step forward on one of the issues. For example set up a savings plan for that month only to tackle some of your bills.

You will be amazed at how much better you feel. Once that step has been taken, if your obsession with weight returns, that is fine for a little while, focus on losing the weight through lifestyle change. And several days later once again imagine your are thin and tackle one other problem. Over time, the research suggests for many the weight will just come off.
