What do these readings on my scale mean?

Question by dusk_and_summer: What do these readings on my scale mean?
I have a digital scale where you enter your weight and height in. It comes up with BF 21.7%, BW 53.8% and BM 38.6%

I'm assuming 21.7 is body fat but which are the rest, and are these good and healthy for a 21 year old female?

Body Fat Testers: Are they what they Claim to be?

Article by Qsera

An individual's body gains weight through many different ways. Every muscle, tendon, bone and the organs inside is a potential weight gainer and could contribute to overall body weight. This may or may not be desirable as the case may be but an increase in the content of fat in more cases than otherwise is a cause for worry. Body fat can be a harbinger of something more harmful than the discomfort it brings on.

Overall health of an individual can be adversely affected by excess of fat and it is important that we use a body fat tester to accurately measure the fat in the body. Conventional bathroom scale can not serve the purpose adequately. This is because they can only give an idea of how much an individual has put on weight overall. An electronic body fat tester, on the other hand, can serve as a warning to you as you are provided with the exact data on fat.

The best time to use an electronic fat tester is on an empty stomach in the morning. Your food intake does have a bearing on the weight and so it is even better that you do not stuff yourself with your favorite food the previous night. Nor is a late night dinner advisable. Caffeine, water and food can all alter the result and are strictly to be avoided before the measurement is taken. You must take the measurement every two weeks or so. It is always better that the body condition is the same each time the measurement is taken.

The machine needs to know some information like age, weight and gender. You also are required to give details about your exercise regimen, if you are in a habit of exercising daily. The body fat analyzer takes every parameter into account before deciding to apprise you of the latest on your body fat front.

Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry or DEXA is the technique which is used to calculate body fat. Not all fat testers are able to take bone as a factor and these results in some inaccuracy. Both these kinds of body fat testers are good. The hand held model resembles a gaming console and there is a digital screen too. The other one requires an individual to stand on it. The most convenient aspect of both of them is that they are portable and you can easily carry it along with you while traveling.

So, use the Body Fat tester and tone your body now!
