I do the Biggest Loser DVD and want to know how many calories I burn doing the cardio and weight training programs. Can anyone help?


Best answer:
It really depends on height, weight, sex and age. It will also vary depending on your impact level and whether your are giving your full effort the whole time or just working hard enough that you sweat a little. The best way I found to try and calculate how many calories I burn is to enter my time and activity into an online calculator. Have a great work out!

Toning Your Body Without Losing Weight

Body image is such an important part of self esteem and with the summer right around the corner our self esteem can take a hit if the mirror isn't our friend. If you don't like all you see in the mirror and want to work on a few "hot spots", you might think of toning your body without losing weight.

This can be achieved through diet and exercise.

First, take a look at what you are eating. This is one of the biggest culprits that affect tone on a body. You will want to incorporate high protein foods that have lower calories and fat.

Eating a balanced combination of fruit, vegetables and protein every meal will help your body have a higher metabolism. Consistently eating a light meal every three to four hours ensures your muscles are fed correctly. This becomes very important when using weights to tone.

After you've looked at your food intake you start to put together a workout regimen. Purchasing dumb bells and a bench is a good place to start. Using that equipment isn't absolutely necessary but it makes things a bit easier with toning your body.You might want to avoid any injuries by starting off with weights that are easy to handle like a 3 lb hand weight. This way you will increase to heavier weights without putting serious stress on your muscles and joints. Try to workout each session for about 30 - 45 minutes. Start with just a small amount of repetitions such as 3 or 4, then work your way up to 10- 15 repetitions.

It is advisable to wait a full day before you do more weight training. Your muscles need time to heal in between workouts.

Doing some kind of cardio can be alternated when working out with weights, you can do this by walking, jogging or using a DVD workout program. Some of the better ones are by Jillian Michaels or Brazil Butt Lift, which really works you.

You can help yourself by drinking a protein shake formula immediately after each workout. If you don't like protein shakes, the common recommended recovery drink is chocolate milk.

Over all if you follow this exercise regimen for four to six weeks you will see a serious improvement in your mirror! You will feel confident when putting on a bathing suit and hang at the beach with self confidence.

Toning your body with out losing weight can be challenging but following these simple few ideas can lead you to a firmer, toned body.
