I think I have Manic Depression. My father and uncle both have it.
I have Medi-cal and so there are very very few psychiatrists I can see in my area.
Well I had my first appointment today, I was completely honest about my whole life with him because I so badly want to be normal.
I got there, he took my whole background blah blah (i have a long sad, bad, childhood past)
Well he finishes that and sets his tablet and pen on the table and snapped
"So, why are you so pissed off?!"
(I was not angry at all mind you, i was sad, and nervous)
When I told him I wasnt angry he then said
" So why did you cut your hair so short? Are you gay?"
(offended, I told him no. that I cut it to raise money for cancer research and donate it)
"hmm.. well when did you gain all of that weight?"
(i was on the verge of tears, I am very sensitive about my weight- I told him the truth- I had gained about 80 lbs in the past year and a half)
"So, You shave your head, gain a ton of weight, are you trying to get rid of your femininity?"
(By now, I was crying. and I said nothing)
He said "im not trying to hurt your feelings, im trying to empower you"
He had me sit there for about 5 minutes in complete silence.
"you can talk about whatever you want"

When that led to nothing he came to the conclusion that I am
"not ready to change or get better, and you need to stop feeling so pissed off and hanging onto it or i will keep throwing chairs through windows"
I have NEVER had violent, or anger issues- only overly excited or depression issues.
He then said "well I better get to the medication, that's what they're paying me for"
I am 17- I will be 18 in a few days. I walked out and told my mom how he treated me, she was completely livid.
I am confused, I just want help, I want to stop saying hurtful things I don't mean to my family when I am depressed, I want to stop ruining everyone's lives. I want to stop having crazy manic episodes where the world is my play thing.
The last thing I want is someone to say mean things about my weight and hair to me.
