Question by : how to not gain weight when you have an injury?
ok so im a sophomore girl in high school and im very active and like to be doing as much as i can. i do cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. well i've been injured pretty badly and havent been able to run for the past 12 days. im almost positive i have a stress fracture, but im still waiting for my results back to see what's wrong.
anyway, i feel totally lost without running. i didnt know how much i liked it until i got injured. i feel totally fat also. i feel like im out of shape. instead of not running, ive been working out with the shot putters on my team (like in the weight room and stuff) and also ive been doing ab workouts and some floor exercises that dont put stress on my leg. i also can walk without pain now so for the past few days ive been slowly walking for like a half hour (not the best idea though)
how do i not gain weight? i know to cut back on my food intake, which ive been doing somewhat (not extremely), but i dont really even eat that much anyway so its kind of hard to cut back. i eat pretty healthy too. anyway, i have a stationary bike but my dad needs to set it up because my mom actually wants to use it too. but nothing gives me as good of a workout as running does. not even the weight lifting workouts we do for shot put.
if i do happen to gain weight, will i lose it when i get back into running? the reason i care about this is because if i gain weight then it will effect my performance in races and hurt my times. im a pretty good runner, so i also want to keep in shape so i can help out my team and lower my times again.
