Do you have to use a medicine ball when doing russian twists?

Question by Machine: Do you have to use a medicine ball when doing russian twists?
Or will a non-weighted ball work your abs as much?

Best answer:
Hello,

I'm a personal trainer and when I first show someone russian twists I have them do it with no resistance.

After you master the exercise with no resistance, it will definitely work your abs harder if you add a weighted medicine ball.

A dumbell or weighted plate can be substituted for a medicine ball.
