Weight training in 'minimalist' shoes?

Question by Jared Y: Weight training in 'minimalist' shoes?
I've purchased a pair of minimalist running shoes (meaning no extra cushioning, and very little material in the heel - like the 'toe' shoes that you see people running around in)

I'm wondering if I should be using them for weight training - I've generally used normal gym shoes, but I've read that it is better to use a shoe with less cushion. It seems to me that these minimalist running shoes fit the bill, but I'm interested in hearing if others have tried this.

Thanks.

The lack of padding makes it easier to balance. For some exercises that is good for most it makes no difference.
