I have a 14 by 19in messenger bag and I usually put a textbook, two binders, some folders, a pencil case, and an ipod in it and sling it across the chest. Then I hold another textbook in my hand.
Do you think this is too much weight for a messenger bag, and is it bad for my back? I weigh 90 pounds.
Best answer:
I think it is too much weight. The problem with a messenger bag is that all the weight is only one shoulder. When you hang it across the body, you at least have some support from the body. Over one shoulder only is even worse. 90 lbs is a lot to carry. To prevent back problems you need good even distribution of the weight. I suggest that you get a good backpack with a waist clip.
