I purchased a "Reebok weighted leather jump rope" for fitness purposes (thought it would be an interesting workout compared to other things) and I was wondering what length should I shorten it to?, i'm 6'1-2 ft.

Okay, this is just from when I was a kid, but we used to hold the rope by the handles, and stand on the rope. When doing this, it should be long enough to fully extend our arms outward just below level with the shoulders, but short enough that there is no slack. I don't know if this is the same for a weighted rope, but you could give it a shot.
