Question by Ayla: How do I gain more muscle and not just get toned if I don't have heavy weights?
I only have free weights. I can't afford the gym anymore so I'm working out at home. I use to do squats with a heavy dumbell on my shoulders with the help of a rack, and other workout machines.

Best answer:
It's recommended that you do weights 30-40 minutes at least 3 times a week. I usually about 2 sets of 15 reps, or you can do about 3 sets of 10 reps. Also, make sure you have a meal or snack with a little protein to help fuel your muscles. Also, get some whey protein powder. I usually mix mine with skim milk for even a little added protein without the fat. This should be taken directly after you do weights. Whey is a fast acting protein. Also, have a little protein with each meal. Good sources are eggs especially the whites alone, lean cuts of meat like white chicken and turkey, baked or broiled fish/not fried, small servings of nuts, beans and soy/tofu products.
